The softball youth mentorship program is designed to inspire and guide young athletes by connecting them with experienced players and coaches who share their love for the game. Through mentorship, participants learn not only the fundamentals of softball—such as skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship—but also valuable life lessons like confidence, perseverance, and respect. The program creates a positive, supportive environment where mentors lead by example, encouraging growth both on and off the field. By building strong relationships and fostering leadership, the youth mentorship program helps shape the next generation of players, coaches, and community leaders in the sport. Mentorship Programs: Sr. Mentor * second year U15 *U17 Jr. Mentor *Second year U13 *First year U15 All Mentors will be required to complete the Respect in sport program.
The Softball Association of Sylvan Lake is proud to announce that as of 2025, we have become an independent association, separate from Sylvan Lake Minor Ball. This exciting change allows us to build our own programs from the ground up, providing greater opportunities for local athletes, coaches, and families to grow in the sport of softball. Our mission: To transparently provide safe, inclusive, recreational and competitive softball programming for youth in Sylvan Lake and surrounding areas. We are seeking community partners and sponsors to help cover startup and operational costs for the 2026 season and beyond.

Association Event - Dr Jennie Youth Sports Psychologist

Dr. Jennie Johnson, a Clinical Child & Teen Psychologist with specialized training in sport and performance psychology. She works closely with youth athletes across Central Alberta to help them build confidence, manage pressure, and perform consistently, especially in competitive environments. This spring, She is offering Small-Group Mental Skills Sessions for Female Softball Athletes (U11–U13 and U15–U19). These sessions are designed to support athletes with the mental side of the game—skills that directly impact performance, enjoyment, and long-term well-being.

This exciting new event is a huge milestone for our association and a celebration of the growth and passion for softball in Sylvan Lake. We can’t wait to see teams showcase their hard work, sportsmanship, and love for the game while families and fans fill the diamonds with energy and support. The Summer Classic is more than just a tournament — it’s the start of a new tradition that highlights the strength, talent, and unity of SASL softball.
This event also creates amazing opportunities for our community to get involved, with volunteers playing a key role in everything from event setup and scorekeeping to hospitality and fundraising. It’s a fantastic way for families to connect, support our athletes, and be part of making this inaugural tournament a true success.
